(Barcelona) Festival Internacional de Cinema d'Autor

If you live in Barcelona and you like independent cinema you shouldn't miss the 2011 International Auteur Film Festival. The festival started on the 29th of April but there's still a change to grab some flicks until the 8th of May.

An Audience Award will be given to the film with the average highest vote given by the festival attendees. The movie that has received the best rating until now is "Les Petits Mouchoirs" directed by Guillaume Canet and which was the opening movie in the festival. I had the pleasure to see it in the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival last February and I have to say it's a beautiful film. It's a movie about friendship that the director chose to do with his friends. This includes his wife, Marion Cotillard (Jeux d'Enfants, La Vie en Rose, Inception), an actress that has become one of my favourites and whose performance in the film stands out once again.

The closing film will be "O Estranho caso de Angelica" by portuguese director by Manoel de Oliveira.

If you've been to this festival I'd love to hear about the movies you've seen and your experience.

(Dublin) Buy My Dress charity event

If you love fashion and would like to help a charity, this post might be of your interest. On the 28th of May Kellogg's Special K together with the Down Syndrome Centre are organising the "Buy My Dress" sale which will take place around Ireland. You can help by donating a dress that is either new or has been slightly used or by buying a new one on the day of the sale.

There will dresses that usually cost about €100 to €150 for something in between 20 and 50 euros and the collected money will be donated to the Down Syndrome Centre.
I think this is a great opportunity for a great cause.

If you live in Dublin the sale will take place in Kildare St. Other event locations can be found in their website. For more information on this event check their website here.

As a fashion lover I like to see when fashion can be used to help other people. Another example of this is Chictopia, a fashion community where its users can show their support for Japan by uploading pictures of themselves wearing red and by donating money to the Red Cross (for more information read here).

(Dublin) Finding cute old things

The other day I came across this really nice shop called "Find: Reclamations of Love". They basically sell old things like old furniture and vintage clothes. I had been ignoring this shop because I thought it would be expensive but actually the prices are not too bad. I couldn't resist it and I bought a beautiful vintage dress for 40 euro. They have lots of nice bags and beautiful mirrors as well. I totally recommend visiting this shop if you like old things.

Some of the stuff they have can be found in their website:

The shop is situated in Cow's Lane, just in front of the Queen of Tarts..

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my blog! Let me introduce myself. My name is Sandra, I'm a twentysomething year old girl living in Dublin. I am not from Dublin though, I've been living here for 3 years now but originally I'm from Barcelona. Thanks to Ryanair's cheap flights I am able to go to my hometown quiet often.

I love walking around cities and discover new places so I decided I would start a blog to share my experiences and discoveries in these two cities. If you live in Dublin or Barcelona or you're planning to visit any of these 2 cities come in and have a read. You might discover new things you didn't know about!
